Yes, it’s that time of year again. Christopher Street Day came to Berlin this weekend. That means a massive gay pride parade wound its way through Berlin. This town never misses a chance to partay, so gay and straight alike are going wild this weekend. All the clubs have special DJs and special events (in reality they are offering the same thing they always do, but the cover charges are simply double).
None of the Chronicle’s reporters are covering the parade this year. The Chronicler-in-chief saw the parade in 2001 during an exchange program with Germany and German teacher brought the entire class to Berlin and took us to the parade.
Then the Chronicle brought you this report back in 2006.
This year, our reporters are staying at home.
The whole premise of a gay pride parade is a bit, well, senseless. What’s the goal? Get drunk and have sex in the streets? Breaking in new leather pants?
The Onion sums it up pretty well with this headline:
Gay-Pride Parade Sets Mainstream Acceptance Of Gays Back 50 Years
Sometime, you shouldn’t put any references to old articles, Clayton!

-We went to a club in the former east. It was fun, and it was my first true clubbing experience. The verdict: clubs are loud, hot, and expensive. I would rather go to a nice dinner than stay out all night at a club. After a night at a club, you come back tired, smelly, and your wallet is a lot lighter…not for me, I am a dork, and I would rather spend my money going to a performance or having a good meal.

Really, Clayton? lol
