American friend Andrew continues to try and convince the Chronicler that New York is all fancy and great. But editorial board of the Clayton Chronicle isn’t buying it. New York is great for a 3 day visit to see a show and take a Sex and the City tour, but it’s expensive, the people never smile, and it smells like pee.

Talk to the hand: Andrew, don’t be defensive. You can always move to Texas, we’ll welcome you with open arms. (What size boot do you where?
Texas may be nearly last in the nation for education and health care, and sure the fattest cities in the country may be in the Lone Star State, but let’s ignore those things and focus on the positive.
Apparently America’s big companies are turning away
from New York, and where are they headed? TEXAS! Yee haw!
Check this out:
Texas is king of the hill when it comes to corporate headquarters.
The Lone Star State passed New York as home to the most big companies in the latest list compiled by Fortune magazine.
Texas now boasts 58 headquarters, three more than New York, the previous No. 1, and California, with 52.
This means more $$$ for us Texans. Check out this headline from D Magazine (all you folks in Dallas, you definately should go buy this month’s D Magazine and read the article about Dallas blondes. Mama Chronicler mailed it to our Berlin bureau, and it has proved to be most informative.)
We’re Rich!: Dallas is the Millionaire Capital of the Country
The article explains:
The Dallas-Fort Worth area has 69,710 million-dollar households and is projected to add another 43,638 in the next five years—the fastest-growing millionaire population in the United States.
A quick diversion from celebrating Texas’ victory over NY -
Many Europeans don’t believe me when I try to explain the wealth in Dallas. When Swiss friend Xavier visited Dallas, he seemed somewhat overwhelmed by street af
ter street of massive homes.
Here in the former East there is still a residual “everyone that has money is evil” and “money is evil” mood. That’s all fun and all, and it’s fun to be a revolutionary, I get that. Power to the people, yada yada.
They say this as Berlin goes further and further into debt each year.
Sorry to bust your revolutionary bubble, but to our die hard leftist readers – wake up to the fact that money can be a good thing. When lots of people have lots of money, it means more money for the city. That translates into better schools, better roads, better paid transit workers (perpetually on strike BVG workers, I am talking about you…), well maintained parks, etc.
Don’t answer with some factoid about how the U.S. is overrun with poverty. So is East Germany, where unemployment hovers around 20% in many areas. The
unemployment rate in Dallas usually hovers between 4 and 5 percent. In your dreams, Germany.
And by the way, all the beggars in the subways and the ones that sit in front of the supermarket just down the street negate the argument that in this social democratic paradise that nobody is poor.
Anyways, let’s get back to the real point of this post – Texas beat New York. Amen.
Also worth noting, the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport is larger than Manhattan.
please ship the boots to my new york address. size 11, preferrably with a cowboy wearing them. thank you for your hospitality.
however, the chronicler seems to be confused. when i rave abt new york, i rave abt new york CITY, not new york STATE. whereas the state of texas MAY be better than the state of new york (who am i kidding, i am not going to vouch for rochester and buffalo), dallas and houston will never surpass new york city!
