Wednesday evening we ventured over to West Berlin to have experience the Christmas Market in front of the Charlottenburg Castle.
The Castle was built as a summer retreat for the Hollenzollerns, the Prussian royal family that ruled Germany until they were kicked out after the First World War I. After being severly destroyed during the war (again, oops!), the castle was restored and is now home to a museum and some lovely gardens.
Of course we didn’t bother to visit those, we went for the glühwein and wurst.
Ooooooooo aaaahhhhh
The reason for the season – glühwein. The Chronicler, English friend Paul, and Nanook of the North/Spanish friend who wishes to remain anonymous.
Berlin really does have a nice assortment of Christmas markets. The one across the street from my apartment has already been chronicled. And, the one on Gendarmenmarkt is particularly festive, although due to the entrance fee, us poor students opted not to go in.
Notice the building on the left with the statue on the room. We have a concert there in February. You should totally come.

I’ve been there! Yay for international experiences.
